1 Homemaking Tip That Transforms Your Home (Without More Effort)

God calls us to run our homes with great intention, care, and effort—not in a way that drains us, but in a way that draws us closer to Him. We simply cannot be the wives and mothers He asks us to be without relying on Jesus every single day. What a beautiful kindness it is that God continually guides us back to Himself.

As women, we often love to do it all, know it all, take matters into our own hands, and figure everything out on our own. That was certainly my default when I first began learning what it meant to be a wife and mother aligned with God’s design. Yet there always comes a moment when our strength, wisdom, and patience run out—and we find ourselves on our knees asking God for help.

That posture of dependence is exactly where we are meant to be, no matter how well or poorly things seem to be going. When our hardships cause us to cling more tightly to Jesus, they become blessings.

There is one very simple homemaking tip I’d love to share as you navigate the beautiful and challenging calling of being a homemaker, wife, and mother:

Play beautiful instrumental or classical music while you do your daily tasks.

Whether you’re cleaning, cooking, folding laundry, or simply giving your all in the unseen moments—this small practice has the power to transform your home. My mother taught me this, and though it seems almost too simple, it truly changes the atmosphere.

Even when the house feels like a wreck, your energy is depleted, and you feel as though you’re falling far short of the Proverbs 31 standard, remember this: a peaceful and joyful heart is one of the greatest gifts we can offer our families. Listening to calming, beautiful music helps me return to that place of peace. It reminds me that there is beauty and purpose in the ordinary, everyday work set before us.

Music gently pulls me out of a frantic, to-do-list mindset—the kind that steals joy—and slows me down. It invites me to be present, grateful, and intentional.

A Scripture to Hold Close

Lamentations 3:22–25

It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed,
because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in Him.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for Him,
to the soul that seeketh Him.

I hope you find beauty in your everyday tasks—it is there, if we have eyes to see it.
